    What is the Bill of Rights? The Bill of Rights is the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution. It spells out Americans’ rights in relation to their government:
    1. Protects five fundamental freedoms: religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition

      2. Right to bear arms

       3. Quartering of soldiers

       4. Search and arrest

       5. Rights in criminal cases

       6. Right to a fair trial

       7. Rights in civil cases

       8. Bail, fines, punishment

       9. Rights retained by the People

       10. States’ rights

    On September 17, 1787, The Constitution of the United States was signed by 39 state delegates in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania; the city that served as the central meeting place for the Founding Fathers

    The Constitutional Convention

    ”In all, 55 delegates attended the Constitutional Convention sessions, but only 39 actually signed the Constitution.” Founding Documents

    The original purpose was to revise The Articles of Confederation, which was the first constitution written after The Revolutionary War with Great Britain in 1777.
