Titanic Lost
In the early morning hours of April 15th, 1912, the RMS Titanic sinks after striking an iceberg late on the evening of April 14th. More than 1,500 souls either drown or dies due to the frigid 25 degree temperature of the North Atlantic. It is the first time the SOS distress signal is used. The ship The California races to the scene rescuing some 900 plus men, women and children. The last survivor of the Titanic tragedy died last year at the age of 98.

President Lincoln Dead
Nearly nine hours after being shot by actor and southern sympathizer John Wilkes Booth, President Abraham Lincoln dies of his head wound at 7:22 a.m. surrounded by several members of his cabinet. His wife Mary, is too distraught and is in another room nearby.

On this day in history, Queen Elizabeth I, dies in the early morning hours of March 24th, 1603. She was 70 years old and had reigned as Queen for 44 of those 70 years succeeding her father King Henry VIII in 1558.

April 14th Historic Day
April 14th is historic at least for two memorable tragedies. First, on the night of the 14th while basking in the glow of victory over the conclusion of the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln is shot by an assassin while watching “Our American Cousins” at Ford’s Theatre with his wife Mary and Major Rathbone and his lady friend. My Backyard, by the owner
In my backyard, figurativley speaking, referring to my city of Oklahoma City, is a significant and tragic piece of American history. I can drive 20 minutes and find myself at the heart of the downtown vicinityof Oklahoma City, where the National Memorial was built. There are empty chairs, the time of 9:02am and a statue of Jesus weeping. am I proud of the beautiful and significant memorial, of course I am, but I wish that it never needed to be built.
